For One In New York helps children in need by providing modest gifts that will impact their future – one child, one family at a time.
For One In New York was formed in 2010 by Linn Tanzman to help some of New York City's neediest children; those struggling in foster care and infants born into poverty.
For One In New York through its "Culture For One" and "For One Baby In New York" programs, partners with local, established not-for-profit organizations that are focused on the welfare of children in need.
For One In New York works with these organizations to determine important yet modest needs to be filled.
The Culture For One program is affilaited with Forestdale, Inc., a foster agency in Queens, NY and the For One Baby In New York program is affiliated with Room to Grow, a local organization dedicated to enriching the lives of babies born into poverty.
Ms. Tanzman forges strategic partnerships with forward-thinking and innovative social services leaders who seek to free urban children from the intergenerational cycle of foster care, poverty and homelessness. Through her Culture For One in New York (Forestdale) program, children who are in foster care along with their families participate in individualized excursions to see a show, attend a music or dance performance or visit a museum exhibit. This exposure to the rich and varied cultural life of New York City creates an experience that helps transform, motivate and inspire the children. Through her For One Baby in New York (Room to Grow) program, she partners with Room to Grow, to help vulnerable newborns born into poverty thrive throughout their first three critical years of development. The program provides critical baby supplies, like cribs, dolls, feeding supplies and developmental toys along with instruction, to deserving families who are striving to become skillful parents and overcome their economic condition.
Ms. Tanzman works with additional leading New York charitable organizations. Through the Spence-Chapin agency she volunteers as a temporary "Interim Care" provider for infants before they are adopted or returned to their birth mothers.
Recognized as a results-oriented marketing and communications executive in the fields of beauty, fashion, entertainment, magazines and luxury goods, Ms. Tanzman is currently an independent consultant for both commercial and non-profit clients. Prior to founding For One in New York, she served in leadership positions with Saks Fifth Avenue, Vogue, LVMH and Wenner Media Inc. During the course of her career, she has represented legendary recording artists and performers, among them the iconic Rolling Stones. She has led numerous high profile charitable events including: Audrey Hepburn: The Beauty of Compassion (for The Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund and UNICEF); the American Cancer Society Dream Ball and the National Breast Cancer Coalition Gala.
